Our Syracuse law firm client has been representing businesses and individuals in Central New York for over 100 years.  Offering a diverse variety of practice areas, their office is in the heart of downtown Syracuse near the courthouse, and many places of interest within walking distance. 

 

We’re looking for a Commercial Litigation/Bankruptcy/Secured Transactions Associate Attorney who has experience in general commercial law and litigation with a focus on insolvency matters, including consumer and commercial collections, contract and business disputes, liquidations, workouts, reorganizations, and secured lending.

 

This position requires excellent drafting and research skills; prior experience or familiarity with UCC, CPLR, and/ or Bankruptcy Code will be given extra consideration. The successful candidate will manage litigation files independently and resolve legal disputes on behalf of clients both through in-court litigation and negotiation.

This position can work on a hybrid schedule but must be in office 2-3 days per week.

  • Demonstrated ability to absorb, process and understand, new information rapidly
  • Experience with online research sites
  • Excellent research skills and written and verbal communication skills

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate from ABA-accredited law school
  • 3-5 years experience in general commercial law and litigation with a focus on insolvency matters, including consumer and commercial collections, contract and business disputes, liquidations, workouts, reorganizations, and secured lending.
  • Admission in New York (or ability to waive in) required, additional Admission in Federal preferred
  • Familiarity with Zoom, MS Teams, and other video conferencing platforms
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Must be able to manage competing priorities
  • Must maintain high standards of performance
  • Must have experience with online filing and research sites
  • Must exhibit conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility
