Our client in Portsmouth, VA, has an urgent need for an experienced Desktop Support Technician for a contracted position, which may extend beyond one month. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in resolving computer-related issues, installing and configuring hardware and software, and ensuring the seamless operation of desktop systems.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop systems, hardware, and software.
  • Provide technical support to end-users regarding computer-related issues and inquiries.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems and perform necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Perform system upgrades and ensure software patches and updates are applied timely.
  • Set up and configure new user accounts and profiles.
  • Manage and maintain computer peripherals such as printers, scanners, and other devices.
  • Collaborate with the IT team to implement IT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assist in maintaining IT inventory and tracking system assets.
  • Document technical processes, procedures, and resolutions.
  • Provide training and guidance to end-users on IT-related topics.

Qualifications

 

  • Associate degree in Information Technology or related field (Bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Proven experience as a Desktop Support Technician or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems.
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, protocols, and technologies.
  • Experience with computer hardware and peripherals.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or similar certifications are a plus.

Location:

This position is located in Portsmouth, VA, and requires onsite presence.
