Overview

Our client located in Falls Church, VA is seeking a Cloud Engineer for a 6 month contract to hire position. In this role the Cloud Engineer will play a vital role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure. As a Cloud Engineer, you will possess a strong understanding of cloud platforms, virtualization, networking, storage, security, and scripting. You will be responsible for ensuring the scalability, reliability, and security of our cloud-based systems. You will also work closely with our development teams to help them leverage the cloud to build and deploy innovative solutions. 

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Design, build, and manage cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (laC).
  • Implement and manage cloud-based services on AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Migrate on-premises workloads to the cloud
  • Manage and optimize cloud resources for cost-efficiency and scalability
  • Implement and maintain cloud security measures to protect sensitive data
  • Automate cloud and on-premise tasks using scripting languages
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions
  • Troubleshoot cloud-related issues and provide technical support
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and trends

Qualifications

 

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in cloud engineering.
  • Proven expertise with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere).
  • Solid understanding of high-level networking concepts (IP routing, firewalls, load balancing).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Knowledge of IaC tools, specifically Terraform and Cloudformation.
  • Familiarity with DevOps methodologies.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • In-depth understanding of cloud security principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect — Associate.
  • Microsoft Azure — Solutions Architect.
  • Google Cloud Certified — Professional Cloud Architect.
