Our client is seeking a Network Administrator to join their Norfolk, VA team for a FT 6 month contract to hire engagement. This position is responsible for maintaining the Information Technology department systems including workstations, servers, backup systems, phone systems, and all associated peripherals as well as applications.  The Network Administrator is expected to pro-actively coordinate with management, staff and vendors to ensure maximum uptime of all systems.  


  • Configure, install & maintain all system hardware and software for Windows 7/10 desktops & laptops as well as peripherals.
  • Provide end-user support for hardware, peripherals & software such as MS Office suite applications including Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and SharePoint as well as Adobe and other third-party software, web applications.
  • Manage & maintain company phone systems.
  • Manage & maintain network backup systems and software.
  • Conduct basic maintenance & updates on Windows Server 2008/2012 servers.
  • Provide after-hours coverage for end-user support on a scheduled, rotating basis.
  • Periodically travel to remote offices for maintenance of hardware & software.
  • Act in a backup capacity for Network Engineer position.
  • Other duties as assigned in support of overall IT functions.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or a related discipline and 2 years of experience or the equivalent experience of at least 5 years.
  • MCSA certification a plus.
  • Proficiency in the configuration & maintenance of Windows 7/10 desktops & laptops, and peripherals such as printers, scanner/copiers, etc.
  • Proficiency with MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc. as well as other standard business applications such as MS SharePoint, Internet Explorer, Adobe, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of VMWare.
  • Basic knowledge of the configuration & maintenance of Windows 2008/2012 servers.
  • Basic knowledge of LAN/WAN networking.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Excellent communication at skills and ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to perform/prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work office hours and flexible 24/7 on-call on a scheduled, rotating basis.
  • Must have own transportation and ability for occasional travel on company business.
