    Are you looking for a position where you can use your technical skills? If so, ESI's Technical Services Team is the place for you! ESI is seeking a Technical Professional to join our team. This position includes the responsibilities of performing hardware or software installations, normally performed on new equipment at a customer location. Troubleshooting and strong customer service skills are a must! 

     

    This position will entail the Technician to work at the client sites and provide technical support. Reliable transportation and a clean driving record are required.  Territory will be 99% Rockingham, VA and 1% Charlottesville, VA

    Responsibilities

    Responsible for analyzing and resolving desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, hardwareand software problems utilizing available resources. In addition, is required
    to identify, rectify and communicate effectively any issues the customer may
    have regardless of technical nature, as it relates to customer satisfaction.

     

    • Meet the requirements of Electronic Systems Fleet Safety program:
    • Possess and maintain reliable transportation
    • Possess and maintain valid drivers license
    • Provide certificate of insurance with adequate liability coverage and include statement from insurance company of their knowledge that you use your vehicle for work
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    • Ability to drive for 6 hours of the day
    • Ability to stand, crouch, walk, kneel, crawl, lay, bend, and perform simple and firm grasping functions with both left and right hands for 6 hours of the day.
    • Be prompt and on time to work and scheduled appointments
    • Be on call 24 hours a day / 7 days a week for various contracts and commitments
    • Able to maintain professional demeanor under stress
    • Possess strong interpersonal skills
    • Posses strong customer service skills
    • Possess strong phone skills
    • Provide updates of service calls upon completion or incompletion of each call to the call support center
    • Report to and be prepared to begin work promptly at 8:00 a.m., work a minimum 8 hour day, with a 1 hour lunch, and continue work until 5:00 p.m. These hours may shift as customer or work load demands and should be expected to start prior to 8:00 a.m. and continue past 5:00 p.m.

    Qualifications

     

    Working knowledge with respect to:

     

    • Computers, Multiple Operating Systems (including Dos, Win3.1, Win 95 all revs, Win 98 all revs, Win NT, Win 2ooo, Apple OS, Linux, Drive duplication / imaging, Hardware Diagnostic Utilities
    • All types of Printers (i.e. dot matrix, Inkjet, Laserjets, color, black & white), including troubleshooting, diagnosing and repair
    • Peripherals (including but not limited to internal & external modems, sound cards, video cards, network interface cards, SCSI adapters, storage devices, memory, etc.)
    • OEM Warranty Procedures – all manufacturers serviced by ESI
    • Appropriate OEM Resources (i.e. manuals, resource CD’s, Internet, etc.) 

    Basic Knowledge

    • Network Administration
    • Portable architecture (i.e. laptops, Handheld devices)
    • General knowledge of Applications


    TECHNICAL SKILLS

    Without Supervision, must be able to:

     

    • Remove PC from packing material, Dispose of packing material, Connect / Setup PC, Assist in the delivery of computers, copiers and other ESI related equipment
    • Install all type of peripherals and verify functionality
    • Troubleshoot and resolve PC problems, hardware and software in a timely fashion
    • Troubleshoot and resolve printer problems (color, black & white) in a timely fashion
    • Ability to diagnose and resolve software and hardware problems in a timely fashion
    • Ability to navigate and utilize internet and manufacturer resources
    • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

     

    PERFORMANCE SKILLS

     

    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and written with customers, coworkers, vendors and supervisors.
    • Possess good organizational skills
    • Ability to manage service call load to attain a 10 hour response time and 8 hour fix time upon notification of parts arrival
    • Ability to maintain a personal parts inventory in an efficient and effective manner
    • Ability to demonstrate time management skills to handle work load
    • Possess good listening skills
    • Ability to work and function efficiently either individually or in a team oriented environment
    • Possess good math skills
    • Ability to follow safety procedures
    • Ability to assist in planning and coordinate onsite efforts for projects
    • Ability to work independently with customer and follow ESI empowerment questions
    • Ability to demonstrate proper operation and functionality of all equipment to customer
    • Ability to manage one or multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to follow instructions from customer, account lead, team leader, service management or co-worker
    • Ability to fill out work orders completely
